The first thing that we are going to cover today is the most important on-page factors because on-page SEO is where the most SEO is done these days and off-page SEO is not as nearly as important as on-page is.
On-page is basically anything that’s going to be on your website, anything that you can control on your website versus getting links or something from another website pointing towards your website.
How should title tags look ? I’m going to explain to you what a good title tag and a bad title tag looks like.
Ads really do well with their title tags mainly because they are spending a lot of money and generally whenever you see a title tag work well you’ll have the main keywords pulled to the left and a qualifier pulled to the right.
Whether you’re doing an ad or whether you’re doing organic it doesn’t really matter as long as you follow this formula you’re usually going to do pretty well.
Bad Title Tag
If we go down and see something on this like company name and the Colorado springs this isn’t really a great title tag because they don’t really have keywords anywhere in this title and they don’t have any qualifiers in here either.
A better way to do it is something that has the keywords pulled to the left and some sort of qualifiers pulled to the right.
If you look at on how this is working on the websites that do a lot of SEO like competitive queries they are basically all doing the same formula.
How to Check a Good Title Tag on Meta Description
If you want to see if your title tag looks good all you do is go over to the search console and go into your website and check on any page to see how it’s doing.
And then what you’re going to do is go to pages and click on the pages and if you go to the queries you’ll see once you click on click through rate if you can see on my SEO Roadmap Template its 8.5% which is really good.
If your main keyword that you are trying to rank for is like 1 % click through rate then that’s the time you need to change the title and meta description.
Even if you’re ranking number 1 because it doesn’t matter if you’re ranking number 1 and you think it looks good if you have 1% click through rate that means 99% percent of the people going to the search result are not clicking on your website and that’s when you go and optimize base off the data.
Some other metrics that you can look at when it comes to data are bounce rate, conversion rates, average session duration, average page views Etc.
Meta description doesn’t really do anything they just help people help on your search result, which higher click through rates are supposed to lead to higher rankings.
Another important SEO metric is user signals so it’s like when people click through to your website you also want to make sure that they are staying on your website that they are hopefully leaving comments on whatever you’re promoting.
They are either returning visitors, returning from google to find your brand again maybe they are doing brand related searches.
When people click in and search some stuff and they’re creating buzz around whatever your brand is and whatever you’re promoting that’s going to help assign relevancy to your website into how google views you and how the users view you.
How to Get User-Generated Signals
One way to get user generated signals is to capture traffic. Anytime somebody’s going to one of your pages you generally want your high traffic pages to have some call to action above the fold.
Meaning that when people go to your post and go to your page and let’s say there’s no some sort of direction for the page there’s no call to action then most of your traffic is just going to bounce off.
So what you do instead is you want to offer some sort of free thing to generate a following and how you take your traffic and convert it into an asset that you actually control and this is very important because a lot of websites don’t do this.
If you are not bringing in traffic that you control whether it’s on a local website or whether it’s a national eCommerce doesn’t matter.
All of the people following you are going to end up re-promoting your brand with those user signals because the more user generated signals you get the more people going to your website the more interactions you’re getting on your content whether it’s local or national you start building authority for that website whatever industry it’s in.
It is important to focus on your user metrics by figuring out how can you create op-ins, how can I use those opt-ins to continue building my relevancy through user engagement.
The way people search for me and the way they interact with my brand. In terms of authority the best way to build it is not through links these days.
The best way to build it is some sort of system where you capture your traffic and then remarket your content to your traffic. It’s what I do a lot with my SEO stuff obviously I do national, I get a lot of local clients all over the place.
The reason I get so many people reaching out to me and buying my programs and calling me is because what I do is I do a tutorials and then I’ll leave some sort of opt-in like what I did for my Free SEO Checklist and continue re-marketing like live streaming or tutorials and it helps me bring in not just rankings on google but also rankings on YouTube.
Another big thing for SEO and on-page is that you need to properly answer the user intent on whatever the query is better that somebody else obviously this is a little bit biased because you’re going to have to figure out how can I Improved what’s already out there.
One thing that I have been doing lately with my tutorials is I’ve been finding a lot of the stuff out there that you’ll be reading.
Like for instance on the local SEO guide blog post on my website you’ll get a lot text and images on how to fix your website locally with the local SEO checklist but they have never had video tutorials so what I’ve been doing is that I’ve been doing this videos like the one you’re seeing and then break them down to images with jump to points so people can just click into the images and then watch the different sessions on my video tutorial.
So that’s how I think I could improve what’s already out there .
Now if I go into my user metrics and I see that nobody really likes this stuff then I’m gonna have to change my approach. So you have to combine your own thoughts on what you can do to optimize it also with the analytics optimizations.
What you can do and see how they are performing is you go into your analytics, you go to your behavior and go to your site content then go to your landing pages and click on the pages that are the new pages that you are trying to rank.
If you want to have a better idea on how this page is performing I generally wait for about 2-4 weeks before I really look at the data.
How to Properly rank on SERPS
Instead of going out and trying to reinvent the wheel it’s wrong to think that if you have more and longer content, better keyword density and better links then you’ll be ranking against your competitors.
A better way to think about ranking is that you need to think about what is working with the competitors that I can do to replicate and what I can do to improve it and what I can do to measure my progress through analytics.
If you answer those three questions you’re going to become the best SEO.
This is the best way to start ranking if you have zero authority, if you’re terrible at SEO all you want to do is to is just start ranking on google and if you don’t have any idea on what any of this technical stuff means or what is user analytics and you just want to rank.
All you need to do is get yourself a subscription to Ahrefs or semrush or something that’s going to give you an estimation on how difficult keywords are.
What keyword difficulty is it’s basically a metric that tells you how competitive this search based on the amount of links that’s pointing to that domain into that page.
I know links are still a huge ranking factors on google but this is how you get around building links because I haven’t built links in the last three years and I’m able to get the results that I’m able to get in competitive niches by doing what I’m about to show you on the next picture.
I don’t spend my time building links but I get people to link to me naturally the way I do this is instead of going for something really difficult, what I do is I’m going to go to All Keyword Ideas and start to filter the keywords that have a keyword difficulty of one because these are the keywords that are basically no competition.
Keyword Research on Client
Whenever I’m working with a client first thing I’m going to do is I’m going to find keywords competitors that are similar to them within sort of their KD range that they’re targeting.
The next thing I do is I start and try to extract hose keywords and see which of those keywords are going to work well as well as for the client that maybe they are not spending as much time on.
Advantages Using My Own Template
In my National SEO Checklist I have a section for all the seo tools that I use.
So as the different plugins and tools like screaming frog what I use for storing my data like google sheet. So if you just go into these templates if you download it you’ll actually be able to just go through all these different SEO tools.
I use just about 20 tools and most of them are free it’s also indicated on the right side of the template if it’s paid or free.
Basics on Google Analytics and Search Console
You’re going to obviously want to set up your conversion tracking because this is the biggest thing in analytics if you don’t have a way to measure conversions then there’s no way to optimize your end goal because you end goal is just how many leads you get off of your website or your clients website.
So you always want to go into admin goals and set up whatever you’re giving away and whatever people are going to end up buying.
How to Bring Opt-ins
The thing I care about the most is my pages bringing in opt-ins for my list .
What I do to bring in opt-ins is I just promote my checklist and anytime somebody does an outbound click to (M.me).
What ends up happening is I get a conversion and I can measure that on my pages by going to site content > Behavior > Landing pages and I can actually see how these pages are performing from my different goals.
Measure Opt-ins on Pages
This is actually important because if you have low conversion rates what’s going to end up happening is your end goal is not going to be optimized. We actually measure calls and forms submits for my client websites.
The other most important thing to look at is just all your traffic by going into acquisition on traffic source medium and comparing sort of your metrics from this month to previous month so you can see whether or not the metrics are going up or down.
This where if you want to see your specific ranking metrics and how your actual pages are doing from a click standpoint.
What you can do is go to open report, look at your different pages and see how they are performing and compare the last 28 days to the previous and then you can start getting ideas.
Also if you want to do quick rank tracking if you don’t’ have tools just click on average position and go to keywords and you can actually see which keywords are changing.
If you click on difference you can actually see the pages that are getting the new positions versus the ones that are losing a bunch of positions this way you can easily track what’s going on with your different keywords.
One thing you want to do with search console if you update or add a page you want it to get index immediately to avoid competitors from scraping your content.
How to Get Clients
The top ways to get clients if you’re really looking to do SEO first thing you wanna do is download this checklist and next thing you want to do is start walking into businesses.
Start a conversation and ask some questions like how long you guys been in business or just create a small talk .And give them the idea if there’s anything you need to fix on their website if they agree on that point is you give them the free SEO audit checklist which it only takes about 20 – 30 minutes.
